How do you protect my home from damage during the roofing installation?

If you’ll permit us one little boast, protecting your home during a roofing installation is on our list of things we are most proud of and where we make an extra effort to outshine other roofing companies. Every home is different when it comes to setting up for a new roof, so we don’t have a one size fits all answer to this question.

What we can tell you is that the material haulers we use to transport the materials are loaded up for every job with an arsenal of protective materials:

  • 4×8 sheets of wood
  • lumber
  • Tarps
  • Other materials that were deemed necessary during the initial inspection of your roof.

Extra care is given to the setup before the first crew member ever climbs a ladder to begin your roofing project. We analyze possible ways that any part of your home, landscaping, or property could be damaged during the roofing process and work to prevent that damage from occurring.

Vehicles

First, we will analyze how close to your home you usually park. If your routine parking place is in close proximity to the work site, we’ll ask you to move your vehicle to a safer location for the duration of the project. This may be as simple as pulling the automobile into a garage unless we also work on the garage roof.

Landscaping

We will cover your bushes and surrounding lawn with tarps. We will also protect and cover delicate flowers and landscaping features with tarping or lumber (depending on the scenario) in order to ensure that you do not lose shrubs or plants due to the roofing process. We know that most homeowners have invested a lot of money into their landscapes and gardens and also spent much time perfecting the look of the outside of their homes, and we would hate to see any of that hard work go to waste

Home Exterior & Windows

We will lean 4×8 sheets of protective wood against your house, porch, rails, steps, and so on. This wood ensures that windows, siding & other exterior elements will be protected from damage from falling roof debris. One of the signature features of our process is the use of our material hauler doubling as a trash hauler. This hauler means no trash container is dropped on your property for who knows how long. In most cases, we are able to confine the hauler to the driveway, so we don’t even leave tire tracks on your lawn.

Removal Of All Visible Evidence

When the structure of your roof permits, our truck parked below has roofing debris thrown directly into it. This saves us time, and it saves you money. The stunning blue sea of tarps we create during setup catches everything not thrown directly into the truck so we can safely and completely remove it.

Speaking of removal, once the roofers have completed their job and the new roof has had a final inspection, we begin removing all evidence of our brief tenure on your roof. We will remove any plywood sheets, or protective barriers created from lumber. We will also empty and remove all of the tarps. Finally, we’ll go through with a strong magnet to be sure any possible metal fragments are picked up (though this is not normally a problem because of the extensive use of tarps).

The whole idea is that when we are finished, which is usually inside of a day, the only evidence that a roofing company has been there is your beautiful new roof. Most roofing companies don’t mind leaving you with souvenirs, but we’d rather maintain our boast of expressing our appreciation for your business in a different way…through cleanliness and consideration of your property.
